APC Rallies Forces for Tinubu's Unstoppable 2027 Re-election Push!

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the newly inaugurated Cityboy Movement are intensifying grassroots mobilisation efforts to secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general elections. This strategic push was highlighted during the inauguration of the Cityboy Movement in Lagos, where party leaders urged young people to actively engage in governance and political processes.

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the state chairman of the APC, represented by Hon. Moshood Mayegun, APC Vice Chairman, called on youth to learn from the 2023 elections and ensure effective mobilisation. He expressed strong confidence in President Tinubu's victory in 2027 and emphasised the critical role of grassroots engagement in achieving this outcome. The inauguration event, held at the movement's state secretariat and Marcellina’s Place, Ikeja, drew a wide array of stakeholders, including APC leaders, local government chairmen, youth organisations, traditional rulers, and ethnic groups.

Hon. Oluwatosin Shoga, the National Director-General of the Cityboy Movement, underscored the inauguration as a "call to responsibility" rather than a mere unveiling. He articulated the movement's foundation on three core pillars: inform, empower, and inspire. Shoga stressed that the movement aims to encourage young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national development, extending its vision beyond the 2027 elections to encompass youth empowerment, educational advancement, and sustainable national development. He reaffirmed the movement's commitment to bridging the gap between the government and the grassroots by effectively communicating the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, the Director-General of the Cityboy Movement, Lagos State Chapter, and Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, elaborated on the movement's objectives to inspire, empower, and engage young Nigerians, foster civic responsibility, and promote national unity. He highlighted a grassroots mobilisation strategy, building support from polling units, wards, and communities across Lagos State. Ogunlewe reiterated the movement's unwavering commitment to advancing President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while promoting discipline and responsible citizenship. He also commended the movement's founder, Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu, for inspiring youth participation in nation-building.

Support for the Cityboy Movement was echoed by Engr. Sesan Olowa, Director of Local Government for the Cityboy Movement and Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, who pledged the full backing of all local government chairmen in Lagos State. He expressed confidence in the APC's victory in 2027, citing the administration's achievements. Amir Kashim Shettima Jr., Co-Patron of the movement, described it as an inclusive platform for Nigerians dedicated to national prosperity, urging steadfastness among members.

The impact of President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda was a recurring theme. Hon. Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, urged members to disseminate the agenda's message and intensify grassroots mobilisation, citing infrastructure development, increased allocations to sub-national governments, and reforms in education and healthcare as evidence of the administration's commitment to improving welfare. Similarly, Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakassai, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (North-West), highlighted initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and ongoing infrastructure projects as positive developments, encouraging continued citizen engagement at the grassroots.

Further demonstrating robust mobilisation efforts, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, the South-West Coordinator of the Cityboy Movement, challenged members to act as ambassadors and disclosed a regional target of delivering nothing less than eight million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. The National Secretary, Tosin Odufuwa, emphasized the platform's role in enabling young Nigerians to actively participate in politics and national development.

Complementing these youth-focused initiatives, Dr. Mary Alile, National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphatically declared "no vacancy" in the Presidential Villa for 2027. Speaking in Akure at the APC’s Sensitisation and Empowerment Programme on Gender Equality and Adequate Representation in Governance, tagged Project 774 Explode Initiative, Alile asserted that Nigerian women are fully mobilised to ensure President Tinubu's re-election, confident that women would deliver over 67% of the votes. She cited reforms like the student loan scheme as justifications for continuity.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa further underscored the importance of gender equality, describing it as a "moral obligation, a democratic necessity, and an economic imperative." He stressed women's centrality to his administration's OUR EASE agenda through appointments, entrepreneurship support, and social protection programs. The Governor's wife, Mrs. Esther Aiyedatiwa, noted that the programme aimed to promote gender equality and prepare women for active participation in leadership, equipping them with advocacy, public speaking, and campaign skills to overcome existing barriers. Dr. Seun Osamaye, Commissioner for Women Affairs, highlighted ongoing empowerment programs, grants, and skills acquisition initiatives benefiting women across the state.

The inauguration of the Cityboy Movement's Lagos chapter, alongside the concerted efforts of the APC's women's wing, marks a significant expansion of the party's political structure and its commitment to grassroots mobilisation and youth and women engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a clear focus on the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
