APC Chairman Declares Primaries Most Competitive in Nigeria’s History
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the party’s ongoing primaries as the most competitive in Nigeria’s political history, citing the unusually high number of aspirants vying for positions across the country.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Yilwatda said the scale of participation reflects the APC’s growing influence and acceptance nationwide. He explained that the imbalance between available positions and the volume of contenders demonstrates what he called “unprecedented demand” for party tickets, adding that it signals the APC’s deep penetration across all segments of Nigerian society.
According to him, the enthusiasm surrounding the primaries shows that many Nigerians now see the APC as their preferred political platform, particularly among those aspiring to leadership roles. He also commended party members for conducting themselves responsibly during the ongoing exercises, describing the process as largely orderly despite its intensity.
