He was named in the starting 11 for Amakhosi on Tuesday night, where they lost 2-1 to the Dutch side in a training match. Reeve Frosler scored the only goal for the visitors as they suffered defeat in their first pre-season match.

The 29-year-old striker joined Amakhosi last week from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia. The Portuguese striker is relatively unknown, but it has been documented that he was one of the best players in Indonesia.

With Amakhosi desperate for a good striker, Da Silva is not tasked with the job of scoring goals for the Soweto giants.

The striker looked sluggish and failed to combine with his teammates. His touches and ball control were very suspect but it could be that he is trying to come to terms with a new style of play.

Kaizer Chiefs fans, however, were not pleased with how the striker performed on Tuesday. Many compared him to departed forward Ranga Chivaviro who has a love/hate with Amakhosi supporters due to his inconsistency in front of goals.
