In the past, Priyanka Chopra has often opened up about how she was interested in acting as a career but wanted to quit the industry after a botched nose job. Reacting to rumours of whether he played a role in the success of the actress by stopping her and offering her debut film – Hero: Love Story of a Spy, was Gadar filmmaker Anil Sharma. The director insisted that the actress’ talent has paved the way to her success and that she deserves all the fame coming her way. He also mentioned that she continues to stay in touch with him, despite not working with him since then.

It is a known fact that Priyanka Chopra now does only far and few projects in Bollywood, considering her shift to the US with husband Nick Jonas and their daughter Malti. Recently, Anil Sharma, who launched her in B-town with a supporting role in the Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta starrer Hero: Love Story of a Spy, opened about the time when the actress was considering quitting the industry. Sharma had showcased his immense support and continued to cast her in the film, despite the goof-up. Talking about it to Vicky Lalwani, Anil said, “I don’t have any hand in her success. She is successful because she is very talented and when you are this good, God sometimes brings people in your life who give you a push. And I think I can be one of those people.”

The filmmaker continued to assert that the actress, despite her travel and shuttling between continents, has remained in touch with Anil Sharma. “She has stayed in touch with me. If she sees me in a crowd of 100 people, she comes to meet me. We have a good relationship. I also shared a good bond with her late father,” he added.
