The Pakistan Super League match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings has been suspended, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed. The match was originally scheduled to be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday evening.
There have been ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, and PCB's move came after an emergency meeting was held, chaired by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. It remains to be seen whether this match will be held in Rawalpindi on a later date or the PCB could also move it to another venue, with Karachi being mooted as one of the potential venues.
An official PCB statement confirmed the development. “The Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with all the stakeholders, has decided to reschedule tonight’s HBL PSL X match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. The PCB will announce the revised date and venue in due course.”
Several foreign players are taking part in PSL this season and amid the situation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued a statement confirming they are in constant touch with Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain.
"The Board is working closely with both the PCB and the Bangladesh High Commission to make certain that the cricketers feel safe and secure during their stay in Pakistan.
"Furthermore, the BCB is coordinating with the relevant authorities to ensure that all arrangments are in place to facilitate the eventual departure of the players from Pakistan in a timely and secure manner."
The tension escalated after the heinous terrorist attack killed 26 civilians at Jammu & Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. The Indian Armed launched “Operation Sindoor” to destroy nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK in the early hours of Wednesday. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the development through an official statement. Over 100 terrorists were reportedly killed in the operation, which included key locations in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot. Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba's terror camps and hideouts.
