All Kevin Feige Has to Do to Save Blade Reboot Is Trust Ryan Coogler After Critics Found No Flaw in Sinners

Originally slated for a 2025 release date, Mahershala Ali’s Blade reboot hasn’t seen a good day since it was first announced in 2019. By the time 2024 rolled in, the movie had been taken off Marvel Studios’ 2025 roster. Hell, Wesley Snipes reprised his iconic character before Mahershali Ali could get his hands on it! Now, it looks like fans may have lost all hope when it comes to the reboot, but if Kevin Feige really, really wants to make things right and actually pay attention to the vampire slayer, he may need to call in a favor from an old pal – Ryan Coogler.

Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, both of which were incredible in their own way. Now, he is making headlines as his upcoming movie, Sinners, has taken the industry by storm. With a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes so far, Ryan Coogler has proved that he’s a force to reckon with.

Marvel’s Blade reboot has been through more chaos than a multiverse timeline gone wrong. Whether it is script rewrites or director dropouts, it’s been a mess. Despite everything, fans are waiting to see Mahershala Ali‘s vampire slayer in action, but everyone’s patience has a limit, right? Kevin Feige needs to figure this out soon, and the answer may be simple – hand over the reins to Ryan Coogler.

Yes, the Ryan Coogler who beautifully brought the story of Wakanda to life in the Black Panther movie. Not to forget that the 2018 title made history by becoming the first MCU movie to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. While Black Panther didn’t take that award home, it did win in three other categories – Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Original Score.

If ‘Sinners’ does well, Marvel should just give ‘Blade’ to Coogler for him to finish.

A vampire movie shouldn’t be complicated or convoluted.

If Coogler can make the entire world cry over T’Challa’s legacy, just imagine what he could pull off with Blade‘s dark, gritty, vampire-slaying aesthetic. He thrives in complex storytelling, and that just might be what the reboot needs right now.

Then, of course, there is the fact that his latest accomplishment, Sinners, has critics going on and on about it. A 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes is not an easy feat, but somehow, the movie has managed to bag one for itself, at least for the time being.

Out of the 5 movies he has directed so far, his lowest rated is Wakanda Forever, and even that stands at 84%. Make of that what you will. In our honest opinion, Coogler’s shots never miss, and if he were to take over the Blade reboot and do what he does best, we might have ourselves a movie in no time!

The supernatural action-horror movie starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld has set a new benchmark for storytelling, and we can already tell that it is going to do wonders in the next award season. A story of two brothers coming face-to-face with evil, Sinners might be the next best thing that cinema fanatics lay their eyes on. And, come on, Jordan in a double role? Now that’s something we can never complain about!

As we said, early feedback from critics for the movie has resulted in a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes out of 45 reviews. Sure, the number might change when Sinners actually drops, but even this accomplishment.

Per the critical consensus, the movie is a “rip-roaring fusion of masterful visuals and toe-tapping music.” It goes on to praise Coogler, stating that his “first original blockbuster reveals the full scope of his singular imagination.”

Deadline claims that this movie is why Coogler is “at the top” of today’s filmmakers, and we couldn’t agree more. The Hollywood Reporter called it a “smart horror” in its review and stated that it is unlike anything the director or Jordan has done before. We must point out that Coogler has worked with Jordan in all five of his movies to date. Now that’s what we call a partnership. According to predictions (via Deadline), Sinners is looking at a $40 million-plus opening weekend.

So, if Feige is hoping for Blade to be anything but a production nightmare, the answer might be right in front of you. With Sinners, Coogler has proved that he is one of the most incredible directors out there today and maybe the one who saves the vampire slayer.
