All Aboard for Love! Shawn Faqua & Sharon Ifunanya's Magical Train Wedding Extravaganza

Nigerian actor Shawn Faqua and events planner Sharon Ifunanya have captivated hearts with their enchanting wedding ceremonies, which beautifully showcased both rich cultural heritage and unparalleled creativity. Their celebrations included a breathtaking Igbo traditional wedding and an innovative white wedding aboard a moving train, leaving an indelible mark on all who witnessed or followed their journey.
The couple's Igbo traditional wedding was a magnificent display of culture, elegance, and fashion richness, featuring three distinct and memorable looks that paid homage to timeless Igbo bridal aesthetics, reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. For their first appearance, Sharon graced the occasion in a stunning gold sequinned piece, complemented by a vibrant red wrapper and a regal red-and-gold headwrap, adorned with rich jewel tones. Shawn perfectly matched her in a dark awuru outfit featuring isiagu prints, a distinctive red cap beautifully decorated with cowries, and proudly displayed layers of coral beads. Sharon's gold-toned jewellery further enhanced her ensemble.
Their second look introduced a new level of charm with a striking palette of white, red, and gold. Shawn wore an elegant white robe with a graceful drape, paired with a vibrant red wrapper and a red hat impeccably topped with a white feather. His coral beads stood out prominently against the white, adding a perfect traditional touch. Sharon, radiant in full red, opted for a fitted corset gown intricately detailed with beadwork. Her hair was styled in a traditional updo (suku) and adorned with coral beads that harmonized with her jewellery, demonstrating their flawless coordination.
The third and final traditional look was a true celebration of the iconic Akwete fabric. Sharon wore a stunning outfit featuring a white sequinned top and a multi-layered Akwete skirt, gracefully knotted at the waist. The fabric itself was a masterpiece, intricately woven in shades of blue, purple, orange, green, brown, and off-white, arranged in geometric shapes and lines, with subtle stoning adding extra detail. A pristine white headwrap, matching purple and silver jewellery, and coral beads on her wrists completed this modern ode to classic Igbo elegance.
Beyond the sartorial splendor, the traditional wedding was filled with tender moments. A viral video captured the couple swaying gently to the soulful melody of "Elewe Ukwu" by TJ, a beloved Nigerian love song. Lost in their intimate universe, their palpable connection and mesmerising gazes reaffirmed their profound love, surrounded by the joy of family and cherished loved ones.
Not content with traditional celebrations alone, Shawn and Sharon broke new ground with an unprecedented white wedding held aboard a moving train. Dubbed "first ever" and "breaking record" by the couple themselves, this cinematic event commenced its journey from the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Alagomeji-Yaba, Lagos. The excitement was infectious from the start, with Sharon, radiant in her white lace wedding gown featuring a high neckline, long sleeves, and a beautifully beaded bodice, exclaiming her joy.
The train carriage was meticulously transformed into an elegant wedding venue, adorned with exquisite white florals, where guests were comfortably seated at tables, ready to witness a love story in motion. Bridesmaids in vibrant purple and sage green dresses, along with groomsmen in matching attire, added to the joyous atmosphere, rushing towards the train with laughter and celebration. Inside, the ceremony unfolded with heartfelt vows, the exchange of rings, and a sealing kiss, all met with cheers, singing along to soft love songs, and joyous waves from friends and family. This extraordinary and memorable wedding truly reflects the couple's unique personalities and deep affection.
