Alex Warren's 'Ordinary' Shatters Records, Dominates Billboard Pop Airplay Chart for 15 Weeks!

Alex Warren’s hit single “Ordinary” has achieved a monumental milestone on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, setting a new record as the longest-leading No. 1 song in the chart’s history. As of the chart dated October 4, “Ordinary” has spent an unprecedented 15th week at the top position. This remarkable feat surpasses the previous record of 14 consecutive weeks held by Ace of Base’s “The Sign,” which dominated the chart from February through March 1994. The Pop Airplay chart, established in October 1992, measures songs based on weekly plays across more than 150 mainstream top 40 radio stations, with data supplied by Mediabase and Luminate.
Released on Atlantic Records, “Ordinary” first ascended to No. 1 on Pop Airplay in June and has maintained its leading position for all but one week since then, briefly interrupted by Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” earlier in September. This consistent success highlights the song's widespread appeal and radio presence. Warren himself commented on the song’s impact, stating, “When you write a song, you want it to apply to as many people as possible,” a sentiment that clearly resonates with listeners.
Beyond its Pop Airplay triumph, “Ordinary” has also garnered significant success on other major Billboard charts. It commanded the all-genre, multimetric Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks and concluded its run at No. 1 on the prestigious Songs of the Summer chart. Globally, the track led the Billboard Global 200 for 10 weeks and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for eight frames, solidifying its status as an international smash hit.
Throughout its 33-year history, the Pop Airplay chart has seen numerous enduring hits. A look at some of the longest-leading songs underscores the significant achievement of “Ordinary”: Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” with 15 weeks (beginning June 21, 2025), Ace of Base’s “The Sign” with 14 weeks (Feb. 12, 1994), The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber’s “Stay” with 13 weeks (Sept. 4, 2021), and multiple songs like The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey’s “Closer,” Nelly feat. Tim McGraw’s “Over and Over,” Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn,” Donna Lewis’s “I Love You Always Forever,” and Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” all with 11 weeks at No. 1.
All Billboard charts dated October 4 are scheduled to update on Tuesday, September 30, on Billboard.com. Furthermore, September offers a special promotion: subscribers to Billboard’s free Chart Beat newsletter can unlock access to Billboard’s weekly and historical charts, artist chart histories, and all Chart Beat stories by visiting the newly redesigned Billboard.com through any story link in the newsletter.
