Aldi's Posh Skincare Dupes Are Back! Savvy Mum Reveals How She Saved £1.5k Raiding Shelves

A mother, Debra Jayne Williamson, has shared her strategy for maintaining a luxurious skincare routine while on maternity leave by opting for budget-friendly alternatives from Aldi. Faced with the reality that her maternity pay would not adequately cover the cost of her preferred high-end Estée Lauder products, Williamson turned to Aldi's popular 'dupes' to avoid compromising her beauty regimen.

Debra Jayne Williamson embarked on a significant shopping spree at Aldi, successfully stocking up on 27 beauty items. This extensive haul resulted in a remarkable saving of over £1,500. Her purchases included copycat face serums and creams, which are widely regarded as effective and affordable alternatives to pricier brands like Estée Lauder.

Central to her savings was the acquisition of 15 bottles of Lacura ProNight Advanced Face Serum, each priced at just £4.49. This product is celebrated as a dupe for the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum, which typically retails for £65. By choosing the Aldi version, Debra spent £67.35, a drastic reduction from the £975 it would have cost for the Estée Lauder equivalent. Similarly, instead of purchasing 12 tubs of Estée Lauder Daywear Multi-Protection Cream, priced at £55 each for a total of £660, she opted for 12 tubs of Lacura Pronight Plus Face Cream, also £4.49 each, costing her £53.88. In total, her Aldi shopping trip amounted to £121.23, leading to an astonishing saving of £1,513.77 compared to the £1,635 she would have spent on her Estée Lauder favorites.

Sharing her experience on social media under the username @themeddingsfamily, Debra Jayne Williamson posted a TikTok clip showcasing her purchases, which quickly garnered 96,400 views and sparked a divided reaction among users. She expressed her delight, stating, “Stocking up - maternity pay doesn’t cover my Estée Lauder skincare routine addiction so these came back just in time,” and urged, “Everyone needs these in their life!!!” Many beauty enthusiasts praised her find, with comments like “Oooo what a good find!” and “This stuff is amazing. I love my Estée Lauder too. But this is very good. I stocked up as well.” Some users from Northern Ireland lamented the lack of an Aldi in their region, missing out on such bargains.

However, not all feedback was positive. A skincare expert criticized the haul, asserting, “The ingredients are nothing like the original. You’re paying for packaging dupe only.” Debra responded to this by defending her choice, explaining, “That’s absolutely fine for me. I’ve tried these before and I loved them and so did my skin, that’s why I’ve got them.” Another user questioned the quantity of her purchase, asking, “You do not need that many.” Debra clarified her reasoning, stating, “Skincare to last me a year or two is just smart thinking at that price…I did double check, they don’t have expiries,” highlighting her strategic approach to long-term savings.
