Akor Adams Breaks Silence: Sevilla Rejects N16 Billion as Striker Eyes Serie A Exit!
Super Eagles striker Akor Adams is at the center of transfer talks following a remarkable season with Sevilla, where he scored 10 goals in La Liga. While he publicly dismisses rumors, Sevilla has rejected a €10 million offer from Venezia for the in-demand forward, who they value at €25 million, as the club grapples with financial pressures.
Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has become the subject of intense transfer speculation following a standout season with Sevilla, amidst the Spanish club's precarious financial situation. The 26-year-old forward, who joined Sevilla in January 2025, enjoyed a prolific campaign, netting 10 goals and providing four assists in the Spanish La Liga. His contributions were pivotal in helping Sevilla avoid relegation and maintain their top-flight status. Adams also had a decent showing with the Nigerian National team during the AFCON 2025 tournament.
Adams' impressive performances have significantly boosted his market value, which has reportedly quadrupled since his arrival at Sevilla. This surge in value has attracted interest from numerous clubs across Europe and the Middle East, including Premier League teams, Italian clubs, French giants Marseille, and sides from Saudi Arabia. Sevilla, facing financial pressures, is expected to sell players to generate funds for reinforcements in other areas of the squad.
A concrete offer for Adams emerged from newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia, reportedly worth N16 billion (€10 million). However, Sevilla firmly rejected this bid, deeming it well below their reported valuation of around €25 million for the Nigerian striker. Despite the initial rejection, Venezia, keen to avoid an immediate return to Serie B and viewing Adams as a priority attacking target, is expected to return with an improved offer. They have also explored other Nigerian-eligible forwards like Gift Orban.
Initially, reports circulated that Adams had agreed on personal terms with Venezia and was aware of Sevilla's financial plight, making him open to a move under the right conditions. However, Adams has publicly refuted these claims. Speaking to Footy Africa, he stated, "It is normal that during this period there will be rumours of transfer moves for a lot of players, and not just myself. I have not spoken to my agent, and I do not take such things seriously because right now it is time to relax and recharge for next season." He emphasized his focus on helping Sevilla achieve their goals for the upcoming season, aiming to challenge for European places after their 13th-place finish in the 2024/2025 La Liga campaign.
Despite Adams' expressed desire to remain at Sevilla and his dismissal of transfer rumors, the club's financial difficulties suggest they are willing to sanction a sale if their valuation is met. With multiple clubs stepping up their pursuit and Venezia expected to table an improved offer, Akor Adams could be set for another significant move just over a year after joining Sevilla.
