AI Powerhouse: Reliance & Google Forge Alliance for India's AI Cloud Future

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Google have announced a strategic partnership to establish a state-of-the-art, AI-focused cloud region in Jamnagar, dedicated exclusively to Reliance. This significant development was unveiled by RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance, held on August 29, 2025. The collaboration is designed to significantly propel RIL's ambitious artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
As part of this expansive AI drive, Mukesh Ambani also announced the formation of a new, wholly-owned subsidiary named Reliance Intelligence. This new entity is specifically tasked with bolstering the company's AI infrastructure and capabilities, working in tandem with the Google partnership to scale Reliance's AI business across various sectors. Google Cloud will contribute its world-class, latest-generation AI compute expertise, while Reliance will take responsibility for designing, building, and powering these advanced cloud facilities, utilizing clean energy and leveraging Jio's robust network infrastructure.
Addressing shareholders at the AGM, Mukesh Ambani articulated the vision behind the partnership: "Through this partnership, we are marrying Reliance's proven capability to build world-class assets and execute at an India scale with Google's leading cloud and AI technologies so that developers, startups, and enterprises can innovate faster, operate more securely, and reach every corner of India." This emphasizes the collaborative effort to foster innovation and secure digital operations nationwide.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, in a virtual address, reiterated Google's long-standing commitment to India's digital future. He highlighted the pivotal role of their partnership with Reliance and Jio in making affordable internet accessible to millions, thereby fueling India's digital revolution. Pichai further stated, "And now we are building on this to help shape the next leap with AI." He elaborated that Google and Reliance are partnering to enable AI-driven transformation across all of Reliance's diverse businesses, including Energy, Retail, Telecom, and Financial Services.
The dedicated Reliance AI cloud region in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is engineered to be fully compliant with Google Cloud’s global specifications and service-level standards. This ensures its capability to support the most demanding AI workloads. According to a statement from Reliance, this cloud region will significantly enhance RIL’s capacity to innovate rapidly and modernize its operations, underpinned by Google Cloud's advanced infrastructure and AI technologies. Furthermore, the facility will empower RIL to develop and deliver high-performance, AI-first services to a broad spectrum of clients, including enterprises, small and medium businesses (SMBs), startups, developers, and public sector organizations, thereby contributing to India's burgeoning digital economy.
