The opening weekend sees it on track to break a major box office record for the franchise. The new movie is the sixth installment in the supernatural slasher series, which follows various groups of people avoiding massive calamities because of premonitions, only for Death itself to feel cheated and hunt them down one by one, causing them to die in a variety of outlandish and violent ways. The original installment, which starred Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, and Tony Todd, debuted in 2000 and grossed $112.9 million against its reported $23 million budget.

The Final Destination Bloodlines release comes more than a decade after the previous installment, which was 2011's Final Destination 5. The new movie, which was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein from a screenplay by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Brec Bassinger, and Richard Harmon. Although it has a fresh ensemble cast and the added wrinkle of Death haunting a particular family, in one of his final onscreen roles before his death from stomach cancer in November 2024.

How To Watch The Final Destination Movies In Order

There is a subtle difference between the chronological and release date orders of the Final Destination franchise - which is the best way to watch?

As of Sunday morning, 2025's Final Destination Bloodlines was , knocking the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Thunderbolts* from its perch at No. 1. In addition to topping the chart over Thunderbolts, Bloodlines has maintained a position ahead of major hits including Sinners (which was No. 3 during its fifth weekend) and A Minecraft Movie (which was No. 4 during its seventh weekend). This is both the best opening weekend of the entire franchise and the best R-rated horror debut of the decade.

Final Destination Bloodlines, Sinners, and A Minecraft Movie were all distributed by Warner Bros.

Final Destination Bloodlines is also projected to gross $51 million in international markets by the end of the weekend, giving it . In addition to making it shoot up the chart of 2025 movies, becoming the 10th highest-grossing movie of the year so far, this total sees Bloodlines outgrossing the entire worldwide haul of 2003's Final Destination 2, which grossed $90.4 million by the end of its theatrical run.

Although it has already outgrossed Final Destination 2, Bloodlines still has a way to climb if it is going to be the highest-grossing installment in the franchise. At the time of writing, the highest-grossing installment is the fourth, 2009's The Final Destination, which . Given its current trajectory, if Final Destination Bloodlines has an average multiplier for the franchise, it could easily gross more than $300 million by the end of its run. However, among the franchise as a whole.

Given its current momentum, it is extremely likely that Bloodlines will outgross every single one of the previous Final Destination movies before very long. In fact, . Typically, horror movies have extreme week 2 drops of 50% or more, but this is only infrequently the case for the franchise, which only had such drops with the 2009 movie (-54.9%) and Final Destination 5 (-57.3%). The original trilogy had superior audience holds, dropping 27.9%, 46.3%, and 48.3% respectively.

Given the fact that (which is the best in the franchise by 30 full points and only the second Fresh score in franchise history), it could end up having a drop that falls within the lower end of that range. However, even if it has a more common horror movie drop, around 51%, it will still earn roughly $25 million at the domestic box office alone during its sophomore weekend.

That gross, combined with the box office is takes in between Monday and Thursday, could potentially push it past The Final Destination's total, or at least get it so close that.
