Adani Enterprises Soars: Golden Peacock Award Honors ESG Prowess

Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), the flagship of the Adani Group, has been recognized with the prestigious Golden Peacock Award 2025 for Excellence in Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG). The award, presented by the Institute of Directors (IOD) during the Annual London Global Convention, singled out AEL as the sole recipient in the Diversity Sector category, highlighting the company’s leadership in sustainable practices and governance.

AEL’s ESG Factbook 2025 outlines ambitious goals, including transitioning Mumbai International Airport to 100% green electricity and reducing Energy Consumption intensity by 30% by 2030, showcasing the firm’s proactive commitment to climate action and environmental sustainability.

India’s ESG framework provides a strong foundation for such corporate initiatives. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs established national guidelines on responsible business conduct in 2019, followed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) introducing the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) in 2021. Mandated for the top 1,000 listed companies since FY 2022-23, the BRSR aims to enhance transparency and comparability in ESG reporting, aligning Indian businesses with global sustainability standards.

On the stock market front, AEL shares experienced notable movement on a recent Monday, coinciding with the record date for its ₹24,930-crore partly paid-up rights issue. The stock initially dipped to ₹2,421, a 0.8% decline from the previous close, but quickly rebounded to trade at ₹2,466, a 0.28% increase from the opening price, reflecting market confidence in the company’s ESG-driven initiatives and corporate growth trajectory.
