Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has dismissed rumours that animals were buried inside the new Government House.

Speaking to journalists on Friday during the Open Parliament program, Ukoha emphasised that Abians are primarily concerned with good governance rather than the Governor’s official residence.

He revealed that there had been strong rumours circulating about live cows, vultures, and tortoises allegedly buried in the Government House before Governor Otti assumed office.

Ukoha also disclosed claims of incantations intended to eliminate the Governor but noted that the current administration regards such stories as baseless rumours.

However, he expressed suspicion over the persistent pressure from opposition members urging the Governor to move into the new Government House, questioning their motives behind this insistence.

“I hope it is not what I am thinking. Why is this coming from the same people? Move to the Government House, move to the Government House,” Ukoha remarked.

He further explained that the administration is actively renovating the old Government House, including the Secretary to the State Government’s office and the Government House clinic.

Ukoha also praised Governor Otti for completing the long-neglected Port Harcourt Road and for rehabilitating several other roads in Aba that were previously in a terrible state.
