Abakaliki FC battle Nasarawa United for semifinals ticket
Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi State, which shocked Nigerian football followers by beating Enyimba of Aba in the round of 16 of the ongoing President Federation Cup, will lock horns against Nasarawa United in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Against all expectations, the amateur side defeated Enyimba 2-0 to book their place in the last eight of the championship, which will produce a new champion as cup holders, El-Kanemi, has been booted out of the race.
The game will hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, by 4.00 p.m tomorrow.
In other quarterfinal games, also slated for tomorrow, Wikki Tourists will clash with Ikorodu City at the Bwari Stadium, Abuja, Akwa United and Kwara United will clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, while Plateau United and Enugu Rangers will meet at the Area 3 Stadium, Abuja.
Matches will also hold in the women’s round of 16 with Rivers Angels pitted against First Mahi Babes of Ebonyi State at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, by 1.00 p.m., Remo Ladies of Ogun State against Dannaz Ladies of Lagos, in Ibadan and Delta Queens will do battle against Ibom Angels, in Enugu.
In Benin City, Onimarg of Ondo will clash with Heartland Queens of Owerri in Benin, Osun Babes and Edo Queens are billed to clash at the Mobolaji Johnson arena, Lagos, Mighty Jets Mata of Plateau State will meet Unification FC of Lagos in Anyigba, while Sunshine Queens of Ondo will battle with Confluence Queens of Kogi, in Benin, just as Nasarawa Amazons and Bayelsa Queens will trade tackles at the Awka Township Stadium.
All the ladies’ games will start by 1.00 p.m.
