5-star Kansas signee shows off his work in the gym months before joining the Jayhawks
It was a big day in Lawrence when Kansas head coach Bill Self signed the No. 2 recruit in the class of 2025 to the Jayhawks.
Now, as Darryn Peterson, the five-star shooting guard, prepares to step onto Kansas's campus for the first time, he isn't taking any days off from making sure he's ready to play at the collegiate level.
Recently, Peterson shared a highlight reel of him putting in time at the gym, both on the court and in the weight room, even though there are months until he ever plays a minute for the Jayhawk basketball team.

Peterson has shared similar content throughout the offseason as well as playing in some of the national games for rising prospects. Peterson shined brightly during the McDonald's All-American game, with some analysts saying he looked like the best high school player in the country.
Peterson earned the MVP award after his impressive performance in the All-American game. However, one of his most astonishing accomplishments was when he amassed 58 points in one of his last games for Prolific Prep.
The future Jayhawk was named the Naismith Trophy National High School Player of the Year after his incredible career, ahead of starting his time in college.

Peterson signed his letter of intent with the Jayhawks on Nov. 13, 2024, just 12 days after committing to Kansas on Nov. 1. The Jayhawks' schedule has yet to be announced for the 2025-26 season, but it shouldn't be surprising if the young star makes an immediate impact.
