BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Building for a girl's primary school has been constructed at a cost of 22 million afghanis and put into use in Yaka Wulang No.1 district of central Bamyan province, an official said on Thursday.

Governor's spokesman Abdul Sabour Farzan Saighani told Pajhwok Afghan News the school building was constructed in Pesaroya area.

The project with financial support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was officially inaugurated today, he added.

At the opening ceremony, Governor Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi said the local administration was trying to provide educational facilities for children and youths and construct school buildings.

About the importance of schools and madrasas, he explained now there was no gap between religious schools and madrasas and people could send their children to religious schools in addition to their education in schools.

Mohammad Zubair Ibrahim, Deputy Chief of Operations for the Office of the UNHCR in Bamyan, explained the single-story building had six classrooms, two separate computer rooms, a laboratory, two office rooms, and a security room.

This school is equipped with tables, chairs, solar water and electricity system, play equipment, and a fence, providing a safe and better learning environment for more than a 1,000 students, Ibrahim added.

Nader, a local resident, thanked relevant authorities and said previously; students would face various problems, including a shortage of desks, chairs, and educational materials.

According to him, construction of this school will solve many problems and provide a suitable educational environment for students.
