2027: Tinubu support group tackles Aregbesola - Daily Trust

A support group loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lashed out at former Osun State governor and current interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, over his recent call for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement yesterday, the Yari Renaissance Movement for Tinubu 2027, chaired by Kabir Ali Danbaba, described Aregbesola’s ambition to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as both “deceitful” and “dead on arrival.”

The group was reacting to Aregbesola’s remarks at a recent ADC stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, where he advocated for a broad-based opposition coalition to challenge the APC and President Tinubu in the next elections.

But Danbaba dismissed the plan as a “dream unmoored from reality,” warning that President Tinubu remains not only unbeatable in 2027 but will also play a decisive role in determining his successor.

“It is inconceivable that Aregbesola, who benefited immensely from Tinubu’s political goodwill—from being appointed commissioner to becoming governor—has now turned against his benefactor,” the statement read.

The group accused Aregbesola of “trampling on the good heart” of the president and suggested that envy and ambition were fuelling his rebellion.

The group concluded by accusing the ADC of lacking the strength and structure to mount a serious challenge in 2027, insisting that Tinubu’s legacy and political machinery remain firmly intact.
