2027 Showdown: Kwankwaso Urged to Challenge Tinubu for Presidency

Malam Aminu Ringim, a prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the party’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State, has passionately called upon Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to contest the 2027 presidential election. Ringim emphasizes the critical juncture Nigeria faces—economically, morally, and in terms of security—and asserts that Kwankwaso is the only political figure possessing the unique combination of vision, experience, patriotism, and moral strength necessary to rescue the nation. He stresses that this is not ordinary politics but a crucial call of national duty, as Nigerians are weary of ineffective leadership and desperately need a proven, energetic, and unequivocally patriotic leader.
Ringim meticulously outlined specific qualities that make Kwankwaso an exceptional presidential candidate. First, his patriotism is highlighted as unquestionable, demonstrated by consistently prioritizing national interest over personal gain, making sacrifices for public service, resisting corruption, and maintaining steadfastness even when politically inconvenient. Secondly, Kwankwaso’s visible zeal for Nigeria’s greatness is evident in his transformative projects as Governor of Kano, where he revolutionized education, empowered youth, modernized infrastructure, and established a governance model that inspired hope. He is portrayed as a leader driven by purpose rather than mere power.
Addressing the issue of corruption, Ringim affirmed Kwankwaso’s zero-tolerance policy. He noted that during Kwankwaso’s two tenures as Kano Governor, there was stringent financial discipline, with every public fund accounted for. Kwankwaso is said to have never enriched himself, nor did he tolerate sycophants or looters. More importantly, he focused on preventing corruption, a quality deemed essential for a nation plagued by looted public wealth. Ringim further dismissed concerns about Kwankwaso's stamina for the 2027 job, stating that despite his age, he possesses remarkable vigor and mental clarity. He is described as energetic, focused, and more active than many younger politicians, attending events, engaging in grassroots politics, and participating in deep policy discussions. Nigeria, according to Ringim, requires an active Commander-in-Chief capable of urgent thought, movement, and action, qualities Kwankwaso demonstrates.
On insecurity, Kwankwaso is described as deeply disturbed by Nigeria’s escalating challenges of banditry, kidnapping, and communal clashes. As a former Defence Minister and a governor from the North, he holds a comprehensive understanding of both the operational and sociopolitical dimensions of security. His approach emphasizes intelligence gathering, community engagement, police reforms, and military readiness. Crucially, he advocates addressing the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, illiteracy, and youth unemployment, believing that true peace is built through justice and inclusion rather than solely through force.
A significant factor bolstering Kwankwaso’s standing for 2027 is the recent monumental court verdict regarding the NNPP’s leadership tussle. Ringim hailed this ruling as not merely a legal victory but a moral validation of Kwankwaso’s principles. The court decision decisively resolved all distractions and doubts, confirming Kwankwaso as the undisputed architect, backbone, and authentic national leader of the NNPP. This clarity has solidified the party’s foundation and structure, enabling it to move forward with full force towards 2027. Furthermore, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s recognition of Kwankwaso’s leadership as the legitimate structure of the NNPP provides a final seal of legitimacy. This administrative and symbolic acknowledgement means Kwankwaso operates on solid legal and institutional ground, holding the crucial elements of legitimacy, structure, and clarity needed to win a presidential election.
For Ringim and other Kwankwaso loyalists, this entire episode underscores Kwankwaso’s character as a man of truth and principle. His reliance on the legal process, calmness under pressure, and focus on the bigger picture are seen as indicative of the just, composed, and nationally focused president he would be. Ringim views this victory as both political and spiritual, reflecting a clean heart and patriotic zeal, and considers it a divine endorsement for Kwankwaso to lead Nigeria in 2027. His direct message to Senator Kwankwaso is an urgent plea: “Your Excellency, history is calling. Nigeria is pleading. You are not a spectator in this moment—you are the answer. Posterity will not forgive silence. The suffering masses believe in you, and the future needs your courage. Stand up and lead this country to greatness.” Ringim’s final message to Nigerians, especially the undecided and cynical, is to look beyond party lines and consider the future. He urges support for Kwankwaso, whom he describes as real, prepared, and sincere, believing that 2027 can mark a new beginning for Nigeria under his leadership.
