2027 Showdown: APC's CPC Bloc Rallies for Tinubu's Re-election Push

Members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have assured President Bola Tinubu of their unconditional support for his administration and pledged to mobilize for his re-election in the 2027 general elections. This assurance was given during a historic meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where key figures of the former CPC, now part of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gathered to show solidarity and appreciation for President Tinubu's efforts in repositioning Nigeria.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who first came to the House under the CPC platform in 2011, led the charge in affirming the bloc's loyalty. He dismissed suggestions of fragmentation within the CPC ranks, stating, “More than 90 per cent of those who were active during the time of the CPC are represented here.” Speaker Tajudeen unveiled plans to create a nationwide movement titled ‘Former CPC Members for Asiwaju’, designed to cascade down to all local governments, wards, and polling units to gather unwavering support for Tinubu's government and ensure his return for a second term in 2027.
The Speaker also took the opportunity to commend President Tinubu for his significant role in the political journey of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, acknowledging Tinubu's partnership in 2010 that eventually led to the actualization of Buhari's presidential dream under the APC. He further praised President Tinubu for the unprecedented respect and support shown to the late former president's family during his demise, noting the state support and personal involvement, including sending delegations to the United Kingdom and repeated visits to Katsina and Kaduna.
Senator Tanko Al-Makura, a former Nasarawa State Governor and leader of the CPC founding members' delegation, echoed these sentiments. He commended President Tinubu for effectively navigating the country through challenging economic times, sustaining peace, and consistently honoring the memory of their revered leader, former President Muhammadu Buhari. Al-Makura affirmed the CPC bloc's unwavering loyalty, stating, “We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose.” He highlighted the shared vision between Tinubu and Buhari, describing their political partnership as a foundation for justice, equity, and national renewal, and pledged that the CPC family would work tirelessly to consolidate Tinubu’s reforms and sustain the APC legacy beyond 2027.
Responding to the overwhelming show of support, President Tinubu expressed his delight and made significant pronouncements regarding the nation's economic outlook. He declared that his administration had achieved its revenue mobilization target and would no longer rely on borrowing to fund government operations. Tinubu stated that non-oil revenue was performing robustly, having met the year's revenue targets by August, and assured that the Naira was stabilizing. He emphasized a focus on building infrastructure for export and import, creating jobs and opportunities for Nigerians.
On food security, the President unveiled plans for a nationwide mechanization program, including the establishment of farm centers in every region to boost agricultural productivity, ensure food sovereignty, and lift millions out of poverty. He urged his supporters not to be distracted by political noise ahead of 2027, reiterating his administration's commitment to reforms that will deliver prosperity. President Tinubu assured that the legacy he intends to leave is one of
