2027 Race Heats Up: Influential Party Chieftains Back Tinubu’s Second Term

Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency of Oyo State have publicly declared their unwavering commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second-term ambition in the 2027 general elections. This significant declaration was made during a well-attended unity rally organized by the party chieftains in the federal constituency on Wednesday, held at Moniya in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The event saw a robust turnout of key APC figures from both the federal constituency and the state level. Among the distinguished attendees from the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency were Chief Kunle Sanda, Hon Joshua Oyebamiji, Hon Femi Egbedeyi, Hon Tayo Oyetunji, Hon Olafisoye Akinmoyede, Hon. Abisoye Fagade, Chief Isiaka Alimi, and Hon. Adigun Abiodun. State-level party leaders also graced the occasion, including Alhaji Olaide Abas, the APC chairman in Oyo State; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Senators Teslim Folarin, Yunus Akintunde, Sharafadeen Alli, and Abdulfatai Buhari; Hon Aderemi Oseni; Senator Ayo Adeseun; Professor Adeolu Akande; Hon. Bolaji Repete; Hon. Akeem Akogun; and the Chairman of the APC, Oyo State caucus in the United Kingdom, Hon Adebayo Amusat-Gbenla.
Speaking to journalists at the rally, Hon Joshua Oyebamiji, who serves as the Chairman of the Oyo Central Senatorial District of APC, reiterated the collective resolve of all APC chieftains within the federal constituency to diligently work towards the re-election of President Tinubu. Oyebamiji emphasized that leaders at the state level have also committed to operating as a unified entity, ensuring the party's success in 2027. He highlighted a pledge among all party chieftains to collaborate and prioritize collective goals over individual agendas, signaling an end to internal factions within the party.
Hon. Oyebamiji articulated the dual purpose of the rally, stating, "We are here for two purposes. We are here to inform the entire world and the good people of Oyo State that the APC is one in Oyo State. We are now one united family. APC is in Oyo State. That is why we call this rally a unity rally." He further elaborated on the second objective: "Second, we are here to express our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. We have resolved to work together. APC Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency is in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To give automatic support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his second term."
Other speakers at the event echoed these sentiments, pledging their full commitment to working towards the party’s triumph in 2027. Senator Folarin, in his remarks, passionately declared the APC as the most capable political entity to guide Nigeria towards prosperity. Concluding the address, Alhaji Abas underscored the unity of the APC and advised all party members to dedicate their efforts to securing the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
