Lionel Messi
Messi became the player with the most World Cup victories, reaching 23 as Argentina advanced to the final.
He also scored in nine consecutive World Cup matches, surpassing the six-match record shared by Just Fontaine and Jairzinho. His seven goals from outside the penalty area are also the most in the competition’s history.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo became the first player to score at six World Cups, having found the net at every tournament from 2006 to 2026.
The Portugal captain achieved his latest milestone at the age of 41, underlining his remarkable longevity at international level.
Kylian Mbappé
Mbappé scored 10 goals to win the Golden Boot and become the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer.
The France captain finished the tournament with 22 goals in 22 appearances, overtaking Messi during only his third World Cup.
Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane
Bellingham and Kane became the first teammates to score at least six goals each in one World Cup.
Kane finished with six, while Bellingham scored his seventh in England’s bronze-final victory over France. The goal also made Bellingham the first England men’s player to score seven times at a major tournament.
Michael Olise
Olise registered seven assists, surpassing Pelé’s record of six from the 1970 World Cup.
Five of those assists were converted by Mbappé, the most goals created by one player for another at a single World Cup.
Rodri
Rodri completed 790 passes, breaking his own record of 638 from Qatar 2022. Spain legend Xavi held the previous benchmark before Rodri, completing 599 passes in 2010.
The midfielder’s control was central to Spain’s title-winning campaign and earned him the tournament’s best-player award.
Unai Simón
Simón kept seven clean sheets in eight matches as Spain became the first World Cup champions to concede only once during an entire tournament.
He also went 519 minutes without conceding, narrowly surpassing Walter Zenga’s previous record of 517 minutes.
Johan Manzambi
At 20 years and 247 days, Manzambi became the youngest substitute to score twice in a World Cup match.
The Switzerland midfielder established the record after coming off the bench against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Eloy Room
Room was credited by Opta with 15 saves in Curaçao’s goalless draw with Ecuador—the most recorded in a 90-minute World Cup match.
Tim Howard’s overall record remains 16 saves, although the American reached that total during a match that went to extra time.
Didier Deschamps
Deschamps surpassed Germany’s Helmut Schön to set the record for the most World Cup matches as a coach, reaching 26 appearances on the touchline.
The France manager also established a new record for the most victories by a coach.
Dick Advocaat
At 78 years and 271 days, Advocaat became the oldest coach to take charge of a World Cup match.
The Curaçao manager surpassed Greece’s Otto Rehhagel during his country’s first appearance at the tournament.
