2023 Election Bombshell: Datti Baba-Ahmed Insists Polls Were 'Fraudulent' and INEC Chair Violated Constitution

Datti Baba-Ahmed, who served as the Labour Party's presidential running mate in the 2023 election, has consistently maintained that the election was rigged. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed strongly advocated for a credible individual to be appointed as the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed specifically accused INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, of violating the constitution during the 2023 election. He highlighted the constitutional provision requiring a candidate to secure 25 percent of votes in at least two-thirds of the states of the federation, including the FCT, asserting that this requirement was breached. He stated that Yakubu would be held responsible for the current state of Nigeria, further commenting that while another arm of government upheld Yakubu's actions, he firmly believed their decision was incorrect and the election was indeed rigged, with results inconsistent with the Nigerian Constitution.
