Everyone, raise your glasses and say happy birthday to the legendary birthday kid! Forget birthday candles – here, they light torches.

Ten years ago, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt galloped onto the scene, enchanting gamers across the globe with its rich storytelling, haunting melodies, and unforgettable quests.

Rooted in the beloved novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, the game isn’t a mere retelling but rather a bold continuation that respects its literary roots while forging its own path. The Path of the Witcher, so to speak.

Set after the conclusion of the books, it dares to imagine what might have happened if Geralt’s journey continued, blending familiar faces and lore with new adventures and original storylines, all crafted by the skilled team at CD Projekt RED.

To mark this milestone, CD Projekt RED is rolling out a feast fit for a Witcher.

The developers have promised a whole cauldron full of surprises for loyal fans:

“We have also prepared a number of other attractions and surprises, but we do not want to reveal them in advance. We will inform you about them gradually in the coming weeks.”

A newly released anniversary trailer packed with iconic moments, sets the tone for a year-long festivity, including concerts under the banner The Witcher in Concert, where the game’s legendary soundtrack will be performed live alongside stunning visuals and gameplay highlights.

Starting in May 2025 in Poland – the game’s homeland – the tour will soon journey to Boston and then sweep across Europe and North America.

On top of that, the anniversary edition of REDstreams featured Geralt’s voice actor, Doug Cockle, reminiscing about his iconic role as the White Wolf.

But that’s not all: fans can look forward to a special comic collection, The Little Witcher, exploring Geralt’s tender moments raising young Ciri, plus a physical edition of the beloved in-game card game Gwent, and a series of ten breathtaking artworks from longtime Witcher artists, immortalized on metal canvases and merch.

While some fans hoped for a major game reveal during the stream, CDPR remains tight-lipped for now – so keep your ears perked and your potions stocked.

It’s no surprise that The Witcher 3 is often hailed as one of the best video games ever.

The game’s haunting themes – like the eerie melodies of the Witches of the Woods – are still stuck in our heads, and its morally complex storylines, the game earned a “Game of the Year” award in 2015 and a permanent place in gaming history.

Players have journeyed through politics, personal drama, and epic monster hunts, all wrapped up in a stunning open world that feels as alive as a bustling tavern after a night of mead and monster-slaying.

Now, thanks to steep anniversary discounts on Steam and GOG – up to 90% off – a new generation of players can experience the Complete Edition for as little as $10. So if you need a reason to talk another friend into playing the game, now's the time.

Looking ahead, the future of The Witcher universe burns bright – and a little mysterious.

As of November 2024, The Witcher 4 is officially in full production.

With Ciri taking center stage as the protagonist – an exciting, if sometimes debated, choice. While some fans questioned whether a woman could truly carry the “Witcher” title, developers see Ciri’s role as both symbolic and natural, given her legacy.

According to CDPR’s CFO, the new game will honor the past while introducing entirely new gameplay elements and mechanics never before seen in the franchise.

Meanwhile, the Netflix adaptations, although not directly connected to the games, continue to expand the Witcher universe. And while the series has drawn criticism for multiple directive choices, seeing more of Geralt in any form feels like a win.

The live-action show based on the books is entering its fourth season, while the often overlooked anime series The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep keeps you company until the next game comes out. (Or, let’s be honest, use that time for another playthrough of the original Witcher 3.)

With concerts, comics, surprises, and a new chapter on the horizon, the saga of the White Wolf is far from over. Grab your swords, because the hunt continues.

As CD Projekt RED put it best on social media:

Share your memories, and tell us what The Witcher 3 means to you.
