Zamfara APC tasks Lawal to end banditry in 2 months
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state has criticised Governor Dauda Lawal for failing to meet his campaign promise to end banditry in two months.
The state publicity secretary of the party, Yusuf Idris gave the reminder in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, Sunday.
The party’s reaction followed a video making the rounds on social media where Governor Dauda Lawal spoke on his administration’s fight against armed banditry in three months.
The party described the Dauda-led administration’s handling of the security challenges as the highest level of deceit and insincerity.
“The governor must be preparing to celebrate his second year anniversary with a failed promise, which he made during his governorship campaigns ahead of the 2023 elections. He boasted that would eliminate armed banditry in the state within the first two months into the administration.
“However, insecurity is getting into the third year with the case worsening. To the governor, however, like he admitted in the said interview with some journalists at the Gusau General Hospital, ‘the fight is still on’, with a weak hope of success,” the party satirised.
The party therefore urged Governor Dauda to apologise to Zamfara citizens and Nigerians for not telling the truth. It also asked the governor to begin real efforts to contain the menace as well as support the victims in the most deserving way or keep mum to avoid embarrassment.
