Will Wade Under Fire For Major Announcement Before NCAA Tournament
College basketball fans are officially one sleep away from the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but there has already been an onslaught of controversy.
It started with the No. 11 seed North Carolina Tar Heels sneaking into the tournament as the final team despite a 1-12 record against Quad 1 teams. Many fans felt something fishy had occurred because the North Carolina athletic director, Bubba Cunningham, spearheads the selection committee.
The other source of fans' frustration is also from the state of North Carolina. Insider Jeff Goodman reported on Wednesday that North Carolina State is expected to hire McNeese State head coach Will Wade after the NCAA Tournament.

Nothing is signed yet, but the expectation is that it’ll be official shortly after McNeese gets eliminated from NCAA tourney.
While fans aren't upset about Wade eventually leaving for a better role, they are not thrilled that the head coach and his future program allowed the news to break just one day before his No. 12 seed Cowboys' first-round matchup against the No. 5 seed Clemson Tigers.
"Incredible that NC State couldn’t wait to leak this story until AFTER McNeese’s game," wrote one user.
"I hate this. Let him coach his kids," commented a second.
"How do you let this get out before your tourney games? No way McNeese can play with their heads on straight now. Jesus," said another.
"Will Wade is a disgrace for doing this before his team plays," wrote another.
"McNeese getting smoked by Clemson confirmed," added another.
"Wait until after the tournament for this stuff," implored one user.
During his media availability before the opening round, Wade was asked point-blank if he or his agent had been in contact with NC State. A question that led to him replying with an immediate "yes" and a smirk.
It remains to be seen whether this will end up being a distraction for his team, but the timing is less than ideal.
Wade has gone a combined 57-10 in his two seasons at McNeese State, leading the program to its first two NCAA Tournament Appearances since 2001-02.
