Who Are Christopher Reeve's Sons: Are They Actors in Hollywood?
Before superheroes took over every screen and billboard out there, there was a phenomenon called Christopher Reeve. Tall, charming, and with a jawline that could stop traffic, the actor was a force to be reckoned with. Through his career and perseverance, Christopher Reeve left a permanent mark on Hollywood, one that will not be erased for years and years to come.
While we may not have him anymore, he did leave his genes behind in the form of his three children, Matthew, Alexandra, and Will. While his daughter chose not to step into the spotlight, his sons have contributed to the industry in one way or the other. Let’s take a moment to learn all about Matthew and Will Reeve.

Christopher Reeve was in a relationship with Jane Seymour when the two of them were filming Somewhere in Time. That’s when his ex-girlfriend of ten years, Gae Exton, revealed to him that she was pregnant with his child, Matthew. That led to Reeve ending his romance with Seymour and getting back with Extron to help raise his son.
Matthew was born on December 20, 1979, and grew up to be a part of the film industry, following in his father’s footsteps. However, instead of opting to be in front of the camera, he chose to work as a producer, director, and screenwriter.
Some of his film credits include Agent Hamilton, Providence, Better Days Ahead, Over the Water, as well as the documentary Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion, among others. Hope in Motion was also nominated for an Emmy.

One of his favorite memories about his father is when Reeve made a surprise appearance at the 1996 Oscars and received a long-standing ovation. Talking to People about this at the premiere of Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, Matthew recalled how he had stayed up till 3 or 4 in the morning on a school night just to see his father make his first public appearance since the accident.
He stated,
I remember I was in London, it was a school night and we stayed up until three or four in the morning to watch it. And it was absolutely incredible. What sticks with me most was after that incredible warm welcome and that very long ovation that he received, his introduction — he followed it up with a wonderful speech about how cinema and movies are at their best when they not only entertain, but they inform and educate and address issues.”
Matthew is married to film writer Anna Lo Westlin. In 2006, Matthew joined the board of directors of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, along with his two siblings. As an activist, he once ran the New York City Marathon to raise money for spinal cord injury. He has also sponsored a study on epidural stimulation.

After Matthew, Reeve went on to have his daughter Alexandra with Exton in 1983. Alexandra is Reeve’s only daughter, and her career is all about politics and law. Today, she works as the CEO of the Center for Democracy & Technology, an NPO that fights to protect civil rights and liberties in the digital age.
A few years after her birth, in 1987, Exton and Reeve called it quits on their marriage and separated amicably, opting for joint custody of their two children.
That same year, Reeve met Dana Morosini, and after overcoming his fear of failed marriages and divorce, Reeve braced himself for the inevitable and proposed to her. The two tied the knot in April 1992 and welcomed their only son together, William Elliot “Will” Reeve, the same year.
While Will is in front of the camera, he is not a part of the film industry; instead, he opted for a career in sports media, landing a job at ESPN’s SportsCenter. Later, he went on to become a broadcast journalist, and as of 2025, is working as a correspondent for ABC News.
Talking about his love for sports, one that he shares with his family, Will once told People, “We shared a very deep bond in general, but sports was definitely a major component of our family bond.”
It is not that Will is completely removed from the film industry. In fact, he dipped his toes into the glitz and glamor of the world at a young age, appearing in two television movies directed by his father: In the Gloaming (1997) and The Brooke Ellison Story (2004).
Surprisingly, Will is all set to make a cameo in one of the most anticipated movies in recent years, James Gunn’s Superman. If the rumors are to be believed, his cameo in Superman is that of a TV reporter. Talking about the cameo to TMZ, he stated,
I know the folks making the film, and they’ve been so kind to me and my family, and I had a free day, so we made it [happen]. t was a really great experience; they were super friendly; it was quick, easy…I was actually more nervous doing that than I am whenever I’m on TV for my normal job because there was so many people around and I had to memorize one line, but still!
Talk about full circle, right?
While Exton is still with her children, Dana Reeve passed away in March 2006, just two years after her husband’s death, leaving Will an orphan. She succumbed to her battle with lung cancer.
As for his personal life, Will is in a happy relationship with event planner Amanda Dubin since April 2023, and the two got engaged in November 2024. The news was shared on Instagram by the couple, where they posted photos of the proposal and the intimate gathering with friends and family that came later.
Though Reeve left this world far too soon, his legacy continues to live on, not just through his work but also through his children. Whether it is Matthew’s work behind the scenes or Will’s presence in front of the camera, the Reeve name is still echoing across industries. While his children may not be full-time actors, they sure have made their father proud by excelling in whatever career they chose to pursue!
