When Sridevi stopped talking to Boney Kapoor for six months after he proposed to her: 'You’re married and...'

The love story of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about relationships. Boney was married to

Mona Shourie Kapoor

when he found himself deeply drawn to Sridevi. However, his feelings were not immediately reciprocated. In fact, when he first confessed his love and proposed marriage, Sridevi was taken aback and distanced herself from him for six months. Boney once shared how the ‘Nagina’ actress reacted to him after his proposal.

Boney Kapoor says Sridevi had seen rushes of Janhvi Kapoor's debut film 'Dhadak': 'She would have worked with her in 'Kalank''

In an old interview with ABP News, Boney shared, "It took me nearly five or six years to convince her. When I proposed, she was shocked and asked me, ‘You’re married and have two kids; how can you even say this to me?’ After that, she didn’t speak to me for six months."
Boney's admiration for Sridevi only grew stronger, even though he was married to Mona. The producer was honest about his feelings and even had a candid discussion with Mona about his love for the actress. "I have always believed in honesty, and I told Mona everything. Love is never perfect, and sometimes, emotions are beyond our control. But I made sure to be transparent about my feelings," he revealed.

Sridevi initially refrained from reciprocating Boney's affections. Her past relationship with Mithun Chakraborty and her belief that Boney was like a brother to her made her hesitant to step into a complicated situation. She chose to keep her distance, unwilling to disrupt an already established family. However, the two eventually found themselves drawn closer.
Boney and Sridevi tied the knot in 1996. Their marriage endured for decades until tragedy struck in 2018, when Sridevi passed away.
