Mysuru/Mandya: A day after Harangi dam in Kodagu released floodwater to the river, discharge from Kabini dam in HD Kote was also stepped up.As of Tuesday, 18,000 cusecs of water is being released from Harangi dam as the inflow jumped to 20,000 cusecs.
The water level at the dam touched 2,279.3 feet against the maximum 2,284 feet.Mysuru district administration asked residents in the low-lying areas of HD Kote, Nanjangud, and T Narasipura taluks to move to safe places as the water level in Kapila River was expected to increase. Over 10,000 cusecs of water was released to the river from 12 noon. The outflow was 5,000 cusecs at 8am, which was doubled as the inflow crossed 20,000 cusecs from 15,849 cusecs.The Hemavathi dam in Hassan district was receiving 8,276 cusecs of inflow. The water level touched 22 TMC. The maximum storage capacity of this dam is 26.1 TMC.8,750 cusecs of water was being released from Harangi dam in Kodagu. Water level at this dam touched 868.91 meters against the maximum of 871.38 meters.KRS water level risesConsistent rain in the Cauvery River catchment areas has increased the level of water in KRS dam to 110.9 ft, as against the maximum level of 124.8 ft, giving hope that the dam will reach its maximum level soon. The inflow of water into the dam is 14,936 cusecs, and the outflow is 950 cusecs as of Tuesday. The water level at the dam stood at 85 ft last year. With the lakes and ponds filling up, farmers are heaving a sigh of relief.
