Warm and windy Saturday
A light batch of snow is pulsing through the region this evening, bringing a sugar coating of snow to some areas, especially through the North Country and western Vermont. Accumulations will remain between a dusting to a half inch, with most of the flakes coming to an end after midnight.
Friday looks to be a pleasant day, with some breaks of sunshine and temperatures in the lower 30’s. One or two flurries can’t be ruled out for the North Country as our wind direction shifts to the southwest briefly.
The breezy southerly wind will be especially noticeable in the Champlain Valley Saturday, with gusts potentially reaching to 40-50 mph during the daylight hours and ahead of the precipitation Saturday afternoon. Valley rain and mountain snow showers push in with a strong cold front during the afternoon, as temperatures soar into the 30’s nearing 40 degrees.
That cold front will bring rapidly falling temperatures, allowing for the rain drops to flip to snow showers. A very quick dusting to 3 inches is possible depending on elevation.
Sunday’s high temperature happens at midnight, around the lower 30’s in the Champlain Valley. We’ll be back in the teens and lower 20’s Sunday afternoon.
Have a great night!
