Valley rain and mountain snow Saturday evening

Published 1 month ago2 minute read

Other than a few flurries, we’re quiet and cloudy this Friday evening.

As we head towards sunrise the winds will begin to ramp up as we sit in the warm sector of our storm system. Wind will be especially strong in the immediate Champlain Valley, where gusts could push towards 40-50 mph, while outside of the valley gusts could top off at 30-40 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect for 2 AM- 5 PM Saturday.

That southerly wind will help temperatures soar into the upper 30’s and lower 40’s Saturday afternoon.

The precipitation rolls in after lunch time, most will start with plain rain with the snow locked up in the highest terrain. As the front passes through we’ll slowly find cold air filtering in allowing the rain drops to flip over to snow flakes, a dusting to 3 inches is possible.

We’ll hit out high temperatures Sunday at midnight, with temps back into the 20’s by daybreak.

We are monitoring a coastal storm and how much snow that could bring to the region overnight Sunday and into Monday. In the mean time, we do know it is going to be cold with high temperatures in the teens and single digits through mid-week.

Have a great night!
