Vivid Sydney 2025 Kicks Off

Vivid Sydney 2025, Australia's largest event, has commenced its 15th year, transforming Harbour City with color and creativity. This year's theme, Dream, encompasses a world-class curation of Light, Ideas, Music, and Food, awaiting festivalgoers over 23 nights until Saturday, June 14. The festival features over 200 events across five unique zones around the city's CBD, designed to inspire wonder, expand thinking, and offer a fresh perspective on Sydney.
Making Vivid Sydney accessible, over 75% of this year's program is free, including the entire Vivid Light Walk, with Martin Place returning after a seven-year absence. The festival will host global figures in entertainment, food, and pop culture, such as Martha Stewart, Nigella Lawson, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and Beth Gibbons of Portishead.
Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper highlighted that Vivid Sydney continues to grow in scale and impact, attracting millions of visitors and reinforcing Sydney's position as a premier destination in the Asia Pacific. He emphasized the festival's accessibility, with most of the program free to attend, uniting communities, supporting local businesses, and boosting the visitor and night-time economies.
Vivid Sydney 2025 began at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay with the First Light ceremony, featuring performances by NAISDA dancers honoring Yolngu culture from Arnhem Land. The ceremony culminated with pyrotechnics, projections, and installations illuminating Sydney Harbour and landmarks, followed by First Light Live, a free concert celebrating First Nations music.
Vivid Sydney runs from Friday, May 23, to Saturday, June 14. Further details are available at vividsydney.com.
