Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Visit Ayodhya Temples

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma visited the Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya on Sunday morning, following a previous spiritual stop at Premanand Maharaj ji’s ashram in Vrindavan. This series of temple visits has drawn mixed reactions online, particularly after Kohli’s recent retirement from Test cricket. While many fans have supported the couple’s spiritual journey, others have questioned Kohli’s mindset, suggesting he may have “lost the hunger for the game.” This has sparked debate among cricket followers, especially those familiar with Kohli’s high-performance career.

On Tuesday, the couple was seen at the Shree Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya. A video shared by ANI on X showed Kohli and Anushka bowing in reverence and receiving blessings from temple priests. They were greeted with garlands and shawls as devotees gathered around them.

Sanjay Das Ji Maharaj, Mahant at Hanuman Garhi temple, noted that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have a deep love for spirituality, culture, God, and Sanatana Dharma. He mentioned they visited Lord Ram Lalla and sought blessings from Lord Hanuman, also discussing spirituality and mythological topics.

The visit occurs as Kohli embraces a reflective phase, spending time with family, stepping back from longer game formats, and focusing on spirituality. However, this shift has not been universally well-received, especially after his Test retirement. Some X users criticized Kohli, suggesting that his passion for the game has diminished since embracing spirituality.

Conversely, some have defended Kohli, praising him for embracing his spiritual side. Meanwhile, Kohli is scheduled to return to the field for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, as the team aims to secure a top 2 spot ahead of the playoffs.

The couple's visit to Ayodhya included prayers at both the Ram Temple and the Hanumangarhi Temple. Mahant Sanjay Das confirmed their morning visit to the Hanumangarhi Temple before their visit to the Ram Temple. The couple avoided interaction with the media during their visit.

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket after 14 years in the format, expressing that it tested, shaped, and taught him lessons. He expressed gratitude for the game, his teammates, and the fans. Anushka Sharma will next be seen in Chakda Xpress, a biopic on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, marking her return to film after six years.

During their visit to Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and Hanuman Garhi temple, Virat wore an off-white kurta, while Anushka wore a lavender suit. They had previously sought blessings from Shri Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj, with videos of their conversations going viral. Kohli made his Test debut in 2011, playing 113 matches and scoring 9,230 runs.
