Villagers blocks NH 30 over death of man in Fatuha road accident
Patna: The death of a 28-year-old man in a road accident in Fatuha police station area of Patna district on Tuesday night, triggered protests by villagers, who demanded compensation for the victim's family.
The protest was also staged on Wednesday morning, leading to long traffic jam on Patna-Bakhtiyarpur Road (NH-30). They also burnt the truck involved in the accident. However, the driver managed to escape from the spot.According to the police, the road blockade was cleared after a lot of efforts after the local administration assured proper compensation to the kin of the deceased and arrest of the accused drive. The deceased, identified as Keshari Kumar alias Mantu, son of late Shiv Kumar Singh from Daulatpur Rana Tola, was a supervisor at a warehouse near a water park in Fatuha.
He was hit by a truck of the same warehouse where he was working."Around 11am on Wednesday, local MLA Ramanand Yadav and Patna City SDO Satyam Sahai arrived at the spot and after much persuasion, the family members lifted the blockade, and the body was sent to Patna for postmortem," said Patna Rural SP, Vikram Sihag. The protestors alleged that Keshari asked for a gate pass from a Haryana truck while leaving the warehouse.
The truck driver did not provide the pass and fled, running over Keshari. However, denying the allegations, Sihag said that the accident occurred by mistake, not intentionally."The police are trying to identify the persons involved in the protest and creating ruckus on the road. An FIR will be registered against at least 30 named persons, who have been identified, and more than 100 unidentified persons. Further action will be taken based on the FIR," the SP added.
