The van caught fire on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 between Innis Downs and Carminnow Cross

A stretch of the A30 in Cornwall was closed in both directions after a van caught fire on Tuesday evening near Lanivet.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said two crews from Bodmin attended the scene on the eastbound carriageway of road between Innis Downs and Carminnow Cross about 19:40 GMT.

The road was shut in both directions while firefighters and police dealt with the incident.

The inside lane of the eastbound carriageway remains closed and National Highways said resurfacing would need to take place.
