Utah Jazz vs Toronto Raptors: preview, start time, channel, streaming, injury report

Published 3 weeks ago2 minute read

The Utah Jazz will take on the Toronto Raptors in a game where both teams appear uninterested in winning. Fresh off an important loss to the Washington Wizards, the Utah Jazz are looking to keep their losing streak alive by resting multiple players.

Jazz say Jordan Clarkson, John Collins, Lauri Markkanen remain out tomorrow. Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton back available. Oscar Tshiebwe newly out, with the Stars. Keyonte George and Jaden Springer questionable.

But it looks like the Raptors will be doing the same thing.

Like Andy Larsen says, we have a tank off on our hands. For the Toronto Raptors, they’re used to this. After the trade deadline last year, the Raptors ended the season with only two wins. But last year ended in disaster for the Raptors, who would only get their pick if it landed in the top 6. But the worst possible scenario happened when the Raptors were jumped twice and lost their pick to the Spurs, who traded it to the Minnesota Timberwolves for an unprotected 2031 pick.

You would think that that would have motivated the Raptors to make up for that lost pick with a better pick in a better draft, but they’ve made moves for players like Brandon Ingram. It appears the Raptors are doing a little of what the Jazz have done in the last two years, where they try to have their cake and eat it too. We’ll see if that works out for them. Utah has not gotten lucky the last two seasons but has made sure to improve their luck with a much more draft-motivated season. It’s a clear difference in strategy, the crazy thing with the lottery can reward anyone. We’ll find out soon who the basketball gods reward. Currently, the Jazz are in third in the lottery odds, and the Raptors are in fifth. The Raptors likely want to lose this more because they have Brooklyn and Philadelphia just a game behind them in the standings and they’re super motivated to improve their draft position. A loss to the Jazz could put them in a tie that lands them in the seventh spot. Obviously, there’s a lot on the line.
