URATEX, one of the leading proponents in Philippine women's 3x3 basketball, has renewed its ties with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) as it reinforces its support to the Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 Women program.

The mattress firm, which backstops top local squad Uratex Dream, has continued its commitment to support the national women's 3x3 team in the Fiba 3x3 Women's Series.

“We thank the SBP for once again giving our organization the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of women's basketball in the country,” said Uratex team owner Peachy Medina.

“The SBP values strong relationships with our partners and we’ve seen just how committed Uratex Dream is in helping our female basketball players,” SBP executive director Erika Dy.

“We produced great results in our first year together so it was natural for us to pursue even more success moving forward.”

The joint venture has proven to be beneficial for the Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 Women, exposing it to high level competition while also gaining points for the country's world rankings.

Led by top-ranked women's 3x3 player Kaye Pingol and Jhaz Joson, the Philippines finished 18th out of 51 teams and had its best finish after placing fifth in the Wuhan stop of the series.

The country also moved to 21st in the women's world rankings, boosting its hopes of making it to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

“The excellent results from the past year's efforts make it clear that we have to run it back. We laud the SBP for their leadership, and we are honored to be a part of this meaningful endeavor," said Medina.

Pingol will still be on hand for this year as she will be joined by mainstay Mikka Cacho, Dream teammate Sam Harada, University of Santo Tomas gunner Tantoy Ferrer, and Fil-Am forward Lexi Pana.

“The goal is to compete as often as possible and score as many points as possible,” added Dy.

“It’s a loaded schedule but we’ve been working hard to help our Gilas 3x3 Women prepare for this series of events. They have been very active both here and abroad and all this experience should be valuable for the 2025 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series.”

Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 Women opens its Fiba 3x3 Women's Series campaign in Chengdu, China on May 2 and 3.
