The airline unveiled its latest premium product on Tuesday, May 13, announcing that the high-end suites will be installed on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The new experience is designed to elevate long-haul travel, beginning in 2026 on flagship international routes departing from San Francisco International Airport to both London and Singapore. Guests traveling in the Polaris Studio suites can expect lie-flat seating with full privacy doors, custom hoodie-style pajamas, and Ossetra caviar presented as a pre-meal appetizer.

Each Polaris Studio suite will feature a remarkable twenty-seven-inch 4K OLED touchscreen display—currently the largest entertainment screen available in any cabin of a U.S.-based airline. The suites also include wireless charging capabilities, Bluetooth audio pairing, and six of the eight Polaris Studio seats will offer an additional ottoman for a companion, equipped with a seatbelt.

Passengers flying in these elevated suites will enjoy thoughtful luxury amenities such as Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, cozy slippers, custom United playing cards, and amenity kits stocked with Perricone MD skincare products. A premium snack box will also be served following dessert, enhancing the end-to-end experience for discerning travelers.

The first upgraded Boeing 787-9 aircraft is expected to enter service by late 2025, with United planning to retrofit thirty Dreamliners with the new interiors by 2027. Once completed, these aircraft will feature ninety-nine premium cabin seats—more than any other wide-body aircraft in the United fleet.

Beyond the eight Polaris Studio suites, the aircraft will include fifty-six business class suites outfitted with sliding doors for additional privacy and thirty-five premium economy seats with partial privacy screens. Every seat on board will come equipped with power outlets and device charging capabilities, ensuring productivity and entertainment are always within reach.

Frequent flyers enrolled in United’s MileagePlus program will benefit further with complimentary high-speed internet powered by Starlink satellite connectivity, enhancing the inflight experience for business and leisure travelers alike.

The debut of Polaris Studio suites is part of United’s broader $150 million investment to upgrade its onboard food and beverage offerings. Highlights include Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé champagne, regional tapas-style small plates, and an expanded menu of gourmet entrées, all of which are tailored to appeal to a global clientele.

With this announcement, United joins other major carriers in the growing trend of expanding premium class offerings. Earlier in May, American Airlines also revealed plans to roll out lie-flat luxury suites on select long-haul flights originating from Philadelphia, signaling a wider industry movement toward upscale passenger experiences.

While enhancing its premium services, United continues to navigate operational challenges, particularly those related to air traffic control staffing and technical disruptions at its Newark Liberty International Airport hub—one of the airline’s busiest and most strategically important locations.

In addition to the premium seating upgrades, the newly configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will offer a total of thirty-three Economy Plus seats and ninety standard economy seats, ensuring a balanced configuration that caters to a wide spectrum of travelers.
