President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for honouring those whose sacrifices ushered in the present democracy, after years of battling military dictatorship.

A statement issued by the Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Dr AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, on Friday, also praised the President for giving national honours to members of his constituency, some of them post humorously .

Dr Meyere described the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger(CON) that was bestowed on Governor Uba Sani as “a fitting recognition of a patriot who put his life on the line for democracy.”

The Secretary to the State Government noted that “the Governor and President Tinubu were in trenches together, fighting for the enthronement of democracy when most of the present day political actors were in their comfort zones.”

The statement also acknowledged the “resilience and sacrifice of millions of ordinary citizens whose yearnings for democracy aided the efforts of civil rights activists, journalists and other human rights lawyers , to return the military back to the barracks.”

Dr Meyere acknowledged that Governor Uba Sani’s concern for the common man did not end with the enthronement of democracy, adding that “his pro-poor legislation at the senate and people-centered policies and programs as Governor of Kaduna State approximate his ideals for a better society.”

The statement noted that the national honour is the “icing on the cake of a series of awards and recognitions that our peoples Governor has been receiving since he assumed office two years ago.”

The statement further called on Kaduna State public servants to redouble their efforts in driving the Governor’s rural transformation agenda, human capital and infrastructural development for the benefit of the citizens.

According to the statement, “the national honour will further energize “the Comrade Governor to deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of Kaduna State and help in actualizing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the APC-led Federal Government.”

Dr Meyere thanked the citizens of Kaduna State for the support that they have been giving Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Senator(Dr) Uba Sani in the last two years.
