The MLB trade deadline is less than a month away and every team on the brink of contention is plotting to improve their roster.

Twins' centerfielder Byron Buxton has been a hot commodity for fans across the league amidst a career year. A recent article from AlBat mocked a trade between the Twins and the Mets that would send Buxton to New York in exchange for three prospects.

@PhilliesBell, a popular X account centered around the Philadelphia Phillies, recently made a pitch for Buxton as a trade target.

The only problem with these hypotheticals? Buxton has a no-trade clause written into his contract. It's a part of his seven-year, $100 million contract that lasts until the end of 2026.

It's a key detail that most fans and publications are ignoring when mocking trades for the centerfielder. Buxton is on an affordable contract, playing some of the best baseball of his life, and on a team that values his veteran presence just as much as his on-field play.

It doesn't entirely rule out a trade but it's certainly difficult to imagine the Twins and Buxton both wanting a divorce. For most players it takes the right offer for a front office to make a move but Buxton would need to sign off on any deal.
