Aliaga Petkimspor Izmir (BSL) inked 27-year old Latvian 208cm power forward Roberts Blumbergs (college: GCU) for upcoming season. Blumbergs played most recently at Galatasaray (BSL). In 29 games he recorded 5.6ppg and 2.7rpg last season. He also played 16 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 6.4ppg and 2.9rpg. Blumbergs helped them to make it to the Basketball Champions League final.
The previous (2023-24) season he played at Aris Midea in Greek GBL. In 27 games he had 9.0ppg and 3.1rpg in that year. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. Blumbergs also played 13 games in Eurocup where he got 6.4ppg and 3.5rpg in that year.
He represented Latvia at the European Championship (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 Division B in Sofia (Bulgaria) seven years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 3 games: 11.0ppg, Reb-2(11.7rpg), 2.0apg, 1.3spg, 1.3bpg, FGP: 42.9%, 3PT: 30.8%, FT: 60.0%.
Blumbergs is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany, Romania (Sibiu), Spain (Zunder Palencia) and Latvia (Valmiera Glass and Liepaja).
Blumbergs graduated from Grand Canyon State University in 2019 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.
