Published 1 week ago3 minute read

Tunisia will host the 30th edition of the International Pharmaceutical Forum (IPF) from April 2 to May 24, confirming the leading role that the country is assuming in strengthening the pharmaceutical sector and promoting international collaboration. This is a global event that will bring together the main players in the sector in Tunis, at a time when the North African country confirms its position as a strategic crossroads between Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The Tunisian edition promises to be an opportunity to explore the latest frontiers of pharmaceutical innovation, with a particular focus on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

The central theme of the forum, “The contribution of artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical sector”, will be expressed in a rich scientific programme that will range from the discovery of new drugs to the optimization of clinical trials, from pharmaceutical production to personalized medicine. Plenary sessions, round tables and practical workshops will offer participants the opportunity to delve into the most current issues, engaging with international experts, industry representatives and regulatory authorities. Special attention will be paid to the concrete applications of AI, with demonstrations of innovative tools and an exhibition space dedicated to the most promising startups. The aim is to promote the exchange of knowledge and inspire new collaborations, outlining the future trajectories of the pharmaceutical sector.

Tunisia’s pharmaceutical market is rapidly expanding and is expected to reach $5,03 billion by 2030, up from $2,15 billion in 2023. Tunisia, with one of the most advanced healthcare systems in the North African region, is attracting foreign investment. Groups such as Sanofi Aventis have strengthened their presence in the North African country through partnerships with local companies, aiming to boost research and development and modernize production units. Companies such as Société Arabe des Industries Pharmaceutiques (Saiph) have expanded their presence in North Africa and West Africa, capitalizing on growth opportunities in the sector. Tunisia’s pharmaceutical sector aspires to increase exports, particularly to European and West African markets, to capitalize on its manufacturing base and gain easy access to Europe and Africa. As of August 2021, the Tunisian pharmaceutical sector had received 105 million euros in investments.

IPF 2025 in the Tunisian capital aims to be a major platform for dialogue and collaboration between the different actors in the pharmaceutical sector, from all over the world. The event will offer the opportunity to: promote international exchanges and strengthen partnerships, showcase the latest innovations and technological advances, discuss current challenges, such as drug regulation and access to care, explore the potential of AI to transform the pharmaceutical sector.
