Trump's 100-Day Rally

Donald Trump celebrated the 100th day of his second term with a campaign-style rally in Michigan, highlighting what he considers his administration's successes. Speaking in front of screens displaying "100 days of greatness," Trump mocked Joe Biden, repeated false claims about winning the 2020 election, and defended his tariff policies.
Trump asserted that his administration has brought "most profound change in Washington in nearly 100 years." He addressed a heckler and touted his administration's "mass deportation" efforts, stating, "Removing the invaders is not just a campaign pledge. It's my solemn duty as commander-in-chief. I have an obligation to save our country." He presented a video of migrants purportedly being gang members arriving at a prison in El Salvador, eliciting cheers from the crowd as the deportees had their heads shaved.
Discussing tariffs, Trump stated that China, facing tariffs of 145%, "has taken more jobs from us than any country has ever taken from another country." He suggested that a trade deal with China was on the horizon and would be a "fair deal." He also claimed his administration had "already ended inflation," though Bureau of Labor Statistics data from last month indicated that while inflation slowed over the past year, it had risen 2.4%.
Trump criticized Federal Reserve chair Jay Powell, stating, "Interest rates came down, despite the fact that I have a Fed person who's not really doing a good job." He defended his administration's tariffs on cars and car parts, following the signing of an executive order intended to ease the impact of these tariffs on US carmakers. He asserted that these actions aimed to "rebuild the industrial bedrock" of the country, claiming the tariffs on foreign aluminum and steel are "keeping our steel mills going." Trump contrasted this with a supposed scenario under Biden where the U.S. was "losing $5 billion a day on trade" and now is "making money."
Concluding his rally, Trump declared, "We're here tonight in the heartland of our nation to celebrate the most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country," adding, "We've just gotten started. You haven't even seen anything yet."
