Troops on internal security operations across the country killed 217 terrorists and arrested 574 criminals in February.

The troops also rescued 320 kidnap victims, while 152 terrorists and members of their families surrendered to troops within the month.

The Defence of Defence Media Operations, Maj.- Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed in a statement on Friday.

He said troops also arrested 122 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N2,199,914,942.00.

According to him, troops recovered 296 high caliber weapons and 7,245 ammunition.

He gave a breakdown of recovered weapons as follows, 159 AK-47 rifles, 54 locally fabricated guns, 36 dane guns, 19 pump action guns, 4,836 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 235 cartridges as well as other 28 assorted arms and 668 assorted ammunition.

In the fight against crude theft, he said troops recovered: 1,790,934 litres of stolen crude oil, 402,936 litres of illegally refined diesel and600 litres of Kerosene.
