JAMB Arrests Impersonators and Delists CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reported several key developments during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). These include the apprehension of impersonators, the delisting of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers, resolution of a hijab-related incident, and updates on the examination's progress.

JAMB announced the arrest of 27 individuals for impersonating candidates during the ongoing 2025 UTME. These individuals have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution, underscoring JAMB's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.

The board has delisted four CBT centers due to technical failures and failure to meet technical standards. The affected centers are Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State; Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State; Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal; and Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal. JAMB has advised candidates scheduled to take their exams at these delisted centers to reprint their examination notification slips to confirm their new venues and dates. JAMB commended the 883 centers that have demonstrated exceptional performance, while warning that any center failing to meet ethical or technical standards will be blacklisted.

JAMB addressed an incident at the Caleb University CBT center involving unauthorized restrictions on candidates wearing hijabs. The board attributed the incident to an "overzealous security officer" and stated that the university’s Vice-Chancellor condemned the action. JAMB extended apologies to the affected candidates and commended the leadership of both the center and the university for their prompt intervention.

As of Friday, April 25, 2025, JAMB reported that over 900,000 candidates had successfully completed the UTME out of the 2,083,600 registered for the examination.

In a related development, JAMB recently launched decoy websites to trap individuals seeking to cheat. These websites mimic those operated by fraudsters and were part of a sting operation that exposed at least 180 candidates who paid for leaked examination questions and fake score upgrades.
