Sokoto Sees High Turnout for Meningitis Vaccination

The ongoing Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) vaccination campaign in Sokoto State has seen a significant turnout, with widespread support from parents, teachers, and community leaders. The initiative, backed by UNICEF, focuses on protecting children from the severe consequences of CSM.

Reports indicate that at Shehu Shagari Memorial Primary School, over 100 pupils received vaccinations. Government Day Secondary School Shagari reported 107 vaccinations. An additional site recorded 240 vaccinated children. The success is attributed to the dedication of health workers and collaborative efforts.

Huzaifa Umar Shagari, Deputy Headmaster of Shehu Shagari Memorial Primary School, commended the campaign, highlighting the community's awareness and trust in the vaccination process. The high participation rates reflect the effectiveness of the joint efforts by UNICEF, local authorities, and community leaders.

The vaccination campaign is set to continue, targeting more communities within the Shagari and Tambuwal local government areas in the coming days.
