Kottayam: A major tragedy was averted as a rubber tree fell on a moving bus with passengers onboard near Nenmeni in Mundakayam in the district on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 10.30am when the private bus was heading to Mundakayam from Ilankadu. There was strong wind and rain in the region in the morning. A huge branch of a tree along the road fell on the bus, breaking its front windshield.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.According to the bus driver, there are several rubber trees in dangerous condition along the road in the area.
