Direct Zurich-Bristol Flight Service Launched by Edelweiss, Enhancing Travel Links
(IN SHORT)
(PRESS RELEASE) BRISTOL, 2025-Jun-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Edelweiss has celebrated the successful launch of its inaugural flight from Zurich to Bristol Airport, marking a new milestone in regional connectivity. The busy flight, which arrived today, welcomed a mix of passengers traveling for both business and leisure, with some connecting through Zurich from other destinations, while others arrived directly from Switzerland.
This new route provides a convenient and direct connection between the South West of England and Switzerland, offering travelers the option to fly directly from their local airport rather than having to travel further afield. The service also facilitates easy onward connections to other European cities, including Munich and Vienna, through Edelweiss’ sister company SWISS.
The twice-weekly service, operating on Mondays and Fridays, offers seamless access for both business and leisure travelers. Whether arriving at Bristol or heading to Zurich, the route connects the South West with one of Europe’s leading financial centers and a popular gateway to the Swiss Alps.
Passengers on the inaugural flight were greeted with a celebratory welcome at Bristol Airport, receiving goodie bags that included luxury handmade chocolates from renowned Bristol chocolatier Guilbert’s and a visitor guide to the region. The celebration was attended by Jon Chamberlain from Visit West, Céline Vautravers from Edelweiss’ Network Planning & Development, and Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director at Bristol Airport.
Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director of Bristol Airport, said: “This new route represents a significant step forward in regional tourism, providing Swiss visitors with a direct gateway to the South West, eliminating the need for additional travel once they arrive in the UK. Zurich is a highly sought-after destination, and with Edelweiss, we can offer travelers in the South West and Wales a direct link to one of Europe’s key financial hubs, strengthening travel and trade links between the South West, Switzerland, and other major European cities.”
Jon Chamberlain, Head of Marketing at Visit West, added: “We are excited to welcome the first flight from Zurich to Bristol with Edelweiss. According to the International Passenger Survey data for 2023, Swiss visits to Bristol reached record levels. This new route will help build on that momentum, encouraging even more Swiss visitors to explore the South West, contributing to the local visitor economy and boosting tourism in the region.”
