Tottenham icon backed to end his career at the N17
There have been reports surrounding a probable Harry Kane return to England of late, something that has sparked a sense of excitement among the fans, especially ones that watched him week in and week out at White Hart Lane. The English skipper moved to Bayern Munich in 2023 and has since been running routes in front of goal in the German top tier; however, he will have a clause in his contract that will become active from the summer of 2026 that would allow clubs to snap him up on a bargain fee.
The clause in the former Leicester City ace is speculated to be around the £54m figure, and that has raised hopes among many fans given how that fee is a reasonable giveaway for a player of his ability.
Harry left Tottenham Hotspur stadium vying for trophies, and it looks like he may finally be getting his hands on something with Bayer Munich leading the race quite comfortably in Bundesliga. Despite his antics at Allianz Arena, his heart still beats for Lilywhite, and that could be seen in how he ensured he put in a good word for the club in the whole Mathys Tel transfer saga.
Building on the news, former Spurs scout Bryan King insists that Kane would be finishing his career at N17 given his love for the club. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, he said:
“I know he left Spurs with the intention of winning trophies, and it looks as though he might fulfil that ambition this year by winning the Bundesliga. I’d like to think that Kane will come back and finish his career at Tottenham.
“I’m surprised there would be a release clause for him to return to Tottenham, and whether it would cost them that much. However, if that is what it says in the contract, then that is what is in the contract.
“It is an awful lot of money to pay for a player who won’t exactly be in his prime at that point. However, I’m sure Kane making his return would quickly generate that money back for the club.”
Now any decision to activate that release clause and bring Kane back to Tottenham will be down to Daniel Levy and the chiefs at White Hart Lane, given how particular they are about their assessment of a player’s value. Yet a bit emotionally, any prospect of bringing Kane back would be an exciting one for the supporters given the status he has at the club.
