Tottenham fans convinced the club has landed their 'new No9' after what they spotted

Published 1 month ago3 minute read

However, Tel did give Tottenham fans a glimmer of positivity as he scored his first goal for the club in the 91st minute of the game.

The France Under-21 international is looking to bolster Postecoglou's attacking options during the second half of the season.

Tel has traditionally played out wide throughout his career on either the right or left flank, showcasing his versatility.

The teenager has scored 29 goals and provided seven assists throughout the first 106 appearances in his career.

The Munich star has also led the line at times throughout his young career, and Tottenham fans believe he is capable of doing that more often.

Casuals told me Mathys Tel is a winger, PLEASE… that's a #9, clear as day.

If Tel plays 'wide' it has to be as an inside forward who's very central. You can't make a killer like this hug the touchline.pic.twitter.com/rsmgya4XFp

Has to be one of the two; he's not a winger for sure.

I actually scouted him in a big piece almost three years ago and even went as far as to say he's a best-in-the-world level talent at no.9 if he develops properly.

Haven't followed him as much since but he's the real deal.

Excellent finish, what a great prospect we have!

He was invisible for much of the game because he was playing out of position.

He shd definitely play as a no. 9 ahead of Son. But we'd have to convince him, though, cos he himself said that his preferred position is to play as the Left Forward

I'm not gonna pretend i know this kid at all, but from the 3-4 games I've seen him (including spurs last 2) seems you have a point.

Also: weak foot is a problem. Too predictable as a winger imo

I always viewd him as a #9

He just can get a lot of minutes as a winger who cuts inside, or 1-2s Udogie-Spence and stays on penalty area. Probably would shine on that if we had Odobert on the other side

Anyone could see he was completely lost out there, gotta play him down the middle..

If you look at his catalogue of goals, you can clearly see he is a natural finisher. Give him the ball in good positions in the box and he will score. His goals per minutes ratio before Kompany took over was very impressive. His mentality is top as well, he will be a beast!

Spurs fans have been impressed by what they have seen from the teenager so far, but they believe that there is a clear change that must take place.

Fans believe that it's "clear as day" that he's a number nine rather than being a winger as he has been throughout his career.
